Jaws an punctuation

I'm running jfw 13 or 14 on an older work computer. In an email it read backslashes as
slashes. Why could this be happening? I habe it on the laptop setting. Anthing I can do to
fix the problem? Luckily my fiance pointed out the error. Jfw also has trouble saying
different types of dashes. Any help would be apreciated. The backslashes were in a date
span.

Maybe put the word backslash in the jaws dictionary for the punctuation symbol.

Okay how do I do that? Jfw also trouble with n dashes. What will the jfw dictionary do?
I'be never used it if you couldn't tell.
